belly laughs with my BF
As someone who is always on the quest to make my life more positive, I was very interested in a list published by the Huffington post last week called ‘Habits of Supremely Happy People’. Instead of giving anecdotal advice from people who claim to be ‘super happy’, it compiles information supported by research (woot woot factual-based evidence) about the little things that happy people do or the ways to promote happiness in the moment. They talked about a few things I’ve already mentioned on this here blog (music, sleeping, nature, taking time to unplug, the concept of flow) – but there were also ones that I didn’t expect!
A few tricks that I am going to try out this week:
- Nixing the small talk for deeper conversation about life and love: I hope the next person who asks “how are you” is ready for an intense convo. Surprise to you - bus driver/barista/coworker-whose-just-trying-to-be-polite!
- Walking tall with your head up and arms swinging: their example showed Beyoncé strutting her stuff on stage, so today I’m hitting the Pittsburgh streets like Queen B (I thinking singing out loud was definitely implied)
- Trying to be happy: because apparently just trying can make you happier (am I the only one who imagines that a trying-to-be-happier face looks a lot like a trying-not-to-fart face?)
What are some small things you do or attitude adjustments that make you happier?
